Who is Oxygen Therapy for?

Conditions Leading to Hypoxaemia

Oxygen therapy can be extremely beneficial for those who frequently experience low oxygen levels, regardless of the reason.
If needed, regularly utilizing oxygen therapy can allow people to be more active and mobile by decreasing shortness of breath.

Hypoxaemia

An oxygen level of 60 mmHg or lower indicates the need for supplemental oxygen

Normal levels of arterial blood oxygen are between 75 & 100 mmHg

Oxygen level should not go above 110 mmHg. It can damage cells in lungs.

What are the Symptoms of Hypoxaemia?

Rapid Breathing
Shortness of Breath

Faster Heart Beat

Confusions

Coughing
or Wheezing

Sweating

What cause Hypoxaemia?

Hypoventilation

  • When someone breathes too slowly or too shallowly, it's called hypoventilation.
  • It leads to low oxygen levels and high levels of carbon dioxide in the blood.
  • Hypoventilation may be caused by lung problems that obstruct the lower airways, such as emphysema, cystic fibrosis, or bronchitis.

VQ Mismatch

  • A V/Q mismatch happens when part of your lung receives oxygen without blood flow or blood flow without oxygen.
  • This happens if you have an obstructed airway, such as when you're choking, or if you have an obstructed blood vessel, such as a blood clot in your lung

Low PO2

  • A low PaO2 level (< 80mmHg) can point to an underlying health condition, such as: emphysema. chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

Right-to-Left Shunt

  • A right-to-left shunt is a cardiac shunt which allows blood to flow from the right heart to the left hear.
  • Result in deoxygenated blood bypassing the lungs and being sent directly to the systemic circulation.
  • Pulmonary arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is the main cause of a right-to-left shunt being present at the pulmonary level.

Diffusion Impairment

  • When oxygen enters the lungs, it fills the alveoli.
  • Capillaries surround the alveoli. Oxygen diffuses from the alveoli into the blood running through the capillaries.
  • In this type of hypoxemia, the diffusion of oxygen into the bloodstream is impaired.

Hypoxaemia

Oxygen level of 60 mmHg or lower

Hyperbaric

Oxygen @ 2 or More ATA (Atmospheric Absolute)

Hyperoxia

Temproary state with high amount of blood oxygen for recovery

How it works?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is where people will breathe in pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber. In the hyperbaric chambers, the air pressure is increased to three or four times the normal air pressure levels. This increases the amount of oxygen delivered to the body. By breathing pure oxygen in one of our state-of-the-art chambers, enabling higher levels of oxygen to be absorbed into the bloodstream. HBOT is an effective way to increase the flow of oxygen around the body. The increased oxygen stimulates and restores function to damaged cells and organs.

Normobaric Oxygen Therapy

Normobaric Oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides you with supplemental, or extra, oxygen. It can help you feel better and stay active. Normobaric Oxygen Therapy involves administering oxygen at normal atmospheric pressure, typically via a face mask or nasal cannula. Valuable adjunctive therapy in diverse medical settings, offering a non-invasive and cost-effective approach to improve oxygenation, mitigate tissue hypoxia and many more.
